brilliant pub. it may call itself a gastropub, but thankfully, in reality it's a quailty traditional pub that serves food. nice low ceilings, exposed beams, and traditional trimmings. pleasantly full on a saturday night, good atmopshere and friendly service. the sorcerer which is currently on tap is a great pint too. The pub was quite crowded but that did give it a good atmosphere, only Green King ales on, even the guest ales was a GK alternative. Food was excellent and sensibly priced. A great pub which could be excellent with better real ales. Randyray - 28 Mar 2009 19:30 |
Best pub in Amersham Old Town, with great service and good drinks. Food is very good. Simply a great traditional pub. CEBS - 9 Oct 2007 15:07 |
I live in Amersham and this is my favourite pub here (although I don't visit it frequently enough to consider myself a "regular"). Very friendly place that serves good quality "pub food" both lunchtimes and evenings. As a previous review commented it is tied to Greene King so there isn't a large choice of real ales, but thet have a reasonable wine list & choice of malt whiskies. It's fairly small so can get crowded, but there is a patio are out back if the weather's OK. I would give a slightly higher mark if they had the odd guest beer. spacehopper - 23 Sep 2007 20:48 |
Nice little pub which unsurprisingly considering the opposition, can get very crowded. Its attraction for the neutral is somewhat compromised by being a Greene King tied house. Redriley - 23 Jan 2007 08:56 |
