| I wish I could give this pub more, but it is a trueism that you cannot be all things to all men. It has always been a local pub for the village, Harley not being the tourist venue of its neighbouring Wentworth. It still has a pool table, dartboard, football team, barfly regulars and the rest; but now the food... I have only eaten Sunday lunch here, but what a Sunday lunch! Proper roast potatoes (roasted in the oven in meat juices, not deep fried in monkey-spunk), choice of five vegetables including Chantilly carrots, stuffing, yorkshires....all lovely and great service from mine-host, Bob. Bob is a very clean and through man, and it shows. The only downside to all this is trying to fit a carvery, pool table etc etc into a space as big as my front room (and I don't exactly live in Castle Howard).
