Visited this pub recently ,food very good. Had a glsss of rose wine , the worst I have ever tasted , told the bar staff I was not happy with the wine, I then had a glass of whte wine which was fine. went to pay the bill and they charged me for the horrible rose wine too !! I returned the full glass minus 2 ,mouthfulls (my husband agreed it was awful)
Bar maid not at all friendlyor helpful, will not go back here.

The RED Lion run by Jan Wise, an experienced chef and landlord, has moved to a completely vegetarian menu in these enlightened non-smoking times. This is a lovely old boozer, ample seating and with plenty of parking. Its a Green King Pub but they have made a real effort to stock plenty of special ales and lagers in the bottle form

Outstanding vegetarian options, we tried the mushroom, chestnut and Roquefort pate followed by squash, spinach and pine nut pancakes and finally chocolate brownies for dessert! All washed down with excellent pints of Old Speckled Hen. It has become acceptable that chefs have to put a veggie option on however it is so often unimaginatively lousy! As a result of that and potential cross-contamination we choose not to eat out! However for those wishing to try veggie food and for established veggies this is an excellent venue and well worth a visitENJOY.!!
