Is this pub open? Have tried three times at lunch time to have a drink, but closed. I understood new tenants had taken over from the previous person. It was always open, clean, warm, with good beer and a friendly approach, alas no food, but that's better than no beer when the pub is closed. onlyhumansblush - 14 Dec 2015 16:53 |
The teenage me used to spend long summer afternoons here playing bat and trap in the massive beer garden and drinking lager. These days with my ale head on i appreciate the finer points of decent ale (Sheps ales only, but all well kept) and decent ambiance. It's good, but as I have yet to sample the food or turn up for any of the live music events I will hold off rating. nickrocks74 - 18 Feb 2011 14:35 |
Excellent clean pub with welcoming log fire and well polished brasses. Master Brew was excellent and my son had a piping hot plate of cheesy chips. Welcoming landlord and clean loos. A good example of how to run a country pub. White Horse and Good Intent take note! Paul_Rochdale - 3 Feb 2010 22:19 |
well the staff appeared to have better things to do than serve, or infact wipe the bar down, as they were too busy chatting to what appeared to be the landlady sitting at the end off the bar. Wouldnt recommend drinking anything out of the barrels due to stomach complaints from the ale, but maybe the bottled beers are ok maidstone1 - 7 Oct 2009 23:58 |
what a lovely pub ! a friendly smile and welcome with excellent beer - 4 real ales in tip top condition, i'm sure. i tried masterbrew and harvest gold - both good. nice to see no fruit machines or game machine - this is what real pubs are about with lovely locals that speak to you. it has a massive garden where i enjoyed a good spot of lunch. they tell me it's all homemade as well. i will definately be back. beerbhuda - 14 Sep 2009 17:19 |
