Good large pub with three ales on, small bites such as black pudding sausage rolls and chorizo scotch eggs available as well as Sunday lunch. Mad Goose on which was nice. rainlight - 17 Apr 2016 18:11 |
Had a bad experience in this pub tonight. My partner and I got our drinks (they do have some decent beers) and went to find somewhere to sit. It was just after 10 on a Thurs night. The only place to sit in the bar area was near the door where it was obviously going to be cold when the door opened, so we went through to the restaurant area at the back where there were plenty of empty tables. They had stopped serving food and a few people were there finishing their wine after their dinners. It smelt like a fish market so i assume fish was on the menu ! After we sat down one of the staff came in and kind of glared at us. Then a waitress came over and said we had to leave the area because 'they were cleaning up' so we then went back into the bar area and found a free table. When we sat down we found there was a smell of piss obviously because we were sat next to the gents (not good though !) so we then went and stood up at the bar to finish our drinks. When we left it was still only about 10.30. The people in the dining area were still there so there was absolutely no reason why we couldn't have sat there in the first place. The pub clearly doesn't know how to treat customers properly and has a few other issues too so we won't be returning any time soon. ToddyBeer - 6 Feb 2015 00:54 |
Nice looking pub. Expensive? 4 for a pint of Brakspears Bitter (3.4%) - not great value when you have 2 Wetherspoons pubs 5 minutes walk away. Mothroy - 9 Jul 2012 20:52 |
Some of the latest reviews below seem very negative From my visit on a Sunny Friday evening, it seemed decent enough. The bar area was completely free when I went up, however 3/4 of the pub were sitting out the front enjoying the sunshine The interior feels quite smart and plush for the area, and there is a hatch which shows it serves food. Meet people in here, so worked well enough for that reason. Prices typically expensive. While was a decent visit, this seems the sort of place would have one and move on unless was with a decent sized group the_original_rawnsleys - 28 May 2012 15:53 |
Went here for Sunday lunch on the 30th October 2011. I prefer their sister pub, The Bull and Last. Things here are just a bit cramped, the food is average and the beer selection was restricted. 427scr - 11 Nov 2011 14:11 |
