This place appears to be approaching the terminus of its downward spiral. Deserted by all bar a few misfits with behavioural problems. We stopped for a pint, got the American Werewolf in London treatment and walked out. What is the point? Not recommended. Will be a residential house before long and all the better for it. I was cycling through Datchworth on Saturday afternoon and stopped at the crossroads for a car. Someone bellowed 'w@nker! at the top of his voice and when I looked round, there was a guy in a red vest standing in the doorway of the Plough clutching his beer who then stuck his chest out and shouted 'Come on then!'. Always looks empty, and with management permitting behaviour like that, it is no wonder. ukipper - 3 May 2015 17:59 |
Now sold by Greene King to a local landowner, has reopened as a free house and is run by the team that runs the Our Mutual Friend in Stevenage. Beers are Buntingford Highwayman, Redemption Trinity and one other. AleSipper - 6 Aug 2014 08:20 |
Visited on 31/10 to avoid the trick or treaters at home... Delightful cosy and friendly atmosphere. Staff were friendly. No clicky local types dominating the bar - can't wait to visit again! adgi - 3 Nov 2011 18:49 |
this pub has it all! firstly the ale, the IPA is as good as the best i have tasted. i asked the barman about the hardy & hansons (3.9 abv), it's a tasty brew originally brewed in nottinghamshire & now produced under the auspices of greene king, also a fine pint. l reccomend this ale house for its well kept beer, friendly, welcoming barman & locals, clean, fresh appearance & splendid log fire. keep up the good ambiance & please stay open on sundays after 4pm - ill be passing through again! jollyfella - 23 Nov 2010 11:49 |
