Well done to Sheps for sticking with this pub. We had excellent fish and chips with a pint of Master Brew in this most unusual of locations. We arrived by steam train on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. Understandably just the two beers on, the other being Spitfire. Steamer1 - 23 Jun 2014 11:46 |
Everything was outstanding from the service, front of house, the meal and the atmosphere. It is lovely and cosy . The menu was balanced with an array of starters that appealed to all, leading to main course menu that made choosing a very dificult task!! and all our guests with no exceptions, could not fault anything!! .My own favorite was the Whitebait, followed by a generous portion of Cod and chips!! No one leaves hungry for sure!! Well Done to and " The Chef" and the staff. Thank you to all for a superb day with fabulous food and service. LGG - 9 Jun 2012 20:49 |
Having heard the good report of Britannia in Dungeness, we decided to try it out. It ticked all boxes in every way, big car park, friendly greeting when we arrived, good choice on the menu and nice real ales. My husband had the Masterbrew & Spitfire which he had had before in other pubs, you will not get a better quality ale than these. Service was brillant and food was superb. I opted for the Lamb Shank which was yummy. The meat fell off the bone and was so tender. The rest of family members ordered the famous fish & chips and Sunday Roast. They were declicious. The desserts were good too. Their menu seems to cater for everyone including vegetarians and kids. We enjoyed the location, service and food. Price is reasonable. It is a pub restaurant ideal for gathering. We look forward to our next visit with family and friends. JCC - 30 Apr 2012 10:57 |
This pub is not on the main steet and youu need to keep driving after passing the Life Boat Station. The external look of this pub is not appealing but once you went in, it is quite spacious and have a very good atmosphere. The pub seems to be children and dogs friendly. Dogs are allowed at the end part of the restaurant. Locals & staff were friendly & welcoming. Efficient and attentive service. However, the most standing out was the food and beer. A very good pint of Spitfire. We had fish & chips, sausage & mesh & steak in our party. The food was superb and cooked to perfection. We kept talking about their food even the next day. To be honest, I was really impressive and pleasantly surprised by the standard. No wonder my business assciates insisted we must visit this pub. It definitely has my thumb up! Visited the pub in the depths of winter, almost completely empty (Just one other couple in the place at 6pm on the weekend) When i brightly mentioned - oh you haven't lit your fire , the reply was a shocked O No (the tone said i had made a daft suggestion). The barmaid herself was very friendly but the surroundings were unwelcoming for a winters night. added to that the price for the food , very high and it should be perfectly possible to offer fish not battered or have some dishes that might not come straight out of the freezer. we finished our one drink and left. I was left very strongly with the impression of a pub that trades on captive summer business. heidi99 - 18 May 2011 20:34 |
