user reviews of the Holly Hill Inn, Sleegill

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A friendly welcome was had here, along with excellent and reasonably priced food. A choice of 3 cask ales - nothing particularly interesting, other than the house beer, produced close by by Wensleydale Brewery.
The best of four pubs I sampled in and around Richmond.

Black Sheep Best Bitter and Golden Sheep, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and Wensleydale Semer Water, which I plumped for. Served in 9.5/10 condition, could not complain in the slightest. Lovely friendly locals, lovely staff. Pool table and darts board, jukebox, beer garden. Guinness was 10/10 I am told. One of the best pubs in the country.

Cracking pub this - stumbled upon it after a trip to the nearby town of leyburn. Beer very good ( although limited to Black Sheep or Theakston's Best on the real ale front). Staff friendly and obliging, rugby liking landlord(excuse his golf habit), locals friendly - if occassionally a little quirky but hang on this is north yorks what do you expect.

Food in both bar and separate restaurant is exceptional and the homemade chips ideal to soak up the aforementioned black sheep on a saturday afternoon visit. Not populated by millions of squaddies despite its proximity to garrison.

Well worth a visit or 7 - 9 out of 10 ( one pint knocked off for no real ale variety - or am I being picky here?)
