From the spacious car park we entered via the immaculate passageway which had the equally immaculate toilets leading off it. The Public Bar is used by both drinkers and diners, when we were there the majority were drinkers. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly, I believe it was the Landlady who served us together with a member of staff. The beer was Ringwood Best or Doom Bar, we had the latter and it was in perfect condition. Our soup was excellent, and although the prices were slightly higher than some pubs, we considered it was well justified - an excellent pub which we shall return to. Feed - 30 Nov 2014 19:03 |
Apparently under new management since April 2011, this is a lovely pub set in beautiful country side. There is a spacious formal dining room with neatly set oak tables area, offset from the single bar. The new owners have been clearly been making substantial improvements . The bar and restaurant have been refurbished since the previous review, along with immaculate new toilet areas. The car park was in the process of being reconstructed on the day we visited. My overall impression of the interior was light and bright. Cask ales on offer were Palmers Cooper and Flacks Double Drop. We opted for the Palmers which was in good condition. Staff were friendly and attentive. Bar meals and full menu options with food professionally cooked and nicely presented. A mix of clientele, from locals enjoying a lunch time pint out front, to dining groups. Something for everybody here. Hellskitchen - 16 Sep 2012 16:56 |
Strange kind of pub with a couple of armatures running the joint, watch out for the 'chef/owner', he'll make you laugh! The bar is a disgrace in my opinion, clean yes but totally uninspiring and devoid of any marketing concept . The pub is in need of some major decoration, get rid of that horrible green carpet!!! As for the beer, no quibbles there. All the beers I tasted were in tip top condition (they had 3 real ales on). Can't comment on the food, but the menu looked limited and pricey. pubcritic61 - 31 Aug 2010 11:10 |
2010 and yes it is pricey but never had a bad meal and has a good atmosphere. popular with local army camps for lunches etc. odbod - 25 Jun 2010 11:47 |
Yes a lovely traditional pub but be warned the food & drinks are quite expensive. i.e. Ploughmans 9, pint of Ringwood & pint of soda & lime 7. You're paying for being in a pretty village and next to the Test. addick - 23 Jun 2008 21:12 |
