A decent enough pub in terms of beer quality and traditional interior, but £3.80 for a Deuchars IPA (even given its location) is excessive (the Haymarket over the road sold the same beer for £3.35 on the same day). alexw - 15 Apr 2014 23:31 |
This pub should be absolutey brilliant but on recent visits there has been no beer available (cask ales) and I have now chosen the Haymarket as a better bet. mcroyal - 13 May 2012 10:32 |
This place has some serious personality and I am glad to hear that the building is listed. It has some amazing stained glass windows and the interior has a nice old world charm to it. The selection of ales was good and even included Triple fff Moondance from way down in Hampshire. Definitely worth a visit. Four.one - 11 Jul 2011 12:56 |
Sorry to hear about problems below - bad news. I was there September 2010 and my notes say it had several ales available (all Scottish except Spitfire) - I had Caledonian 80/. Good quality, busy, good craic with punters and people enjoying themselves. No problems. kernott1 - 23 Dec 2010 14:34 |
Been visiting this pub for almost 20 years and in that time I have not had any complaints. Apart form the odd occasion when the beer I wanted was sold out. It went under a bit of a renovation about 6 months ago. They changed the bar area and brought in a couple of stand beside tables. Nothing too drastic like tidying up the toilets. Anyway the place has totally changed in staff, atmosphere and service. Whoever now owns this place must be using it for staff training as they have a big problem pouring a pint, serving customers before their mates, understanding English or Scottish. When it returns to the way it used to be I will return. PS Make sure you check your change. Two complaints from different customers whilst I had 2 pints says something. droggs - 3 May 2010 21:38 |
