Been into this place a couple of times recently and enjoyed it immensely. Went in on a Wednesday (rammed - Quiz night) and also on a Monday (very very quiet), different ales on each time but a good selection and good condition both times. They seem to always offer a Derby Brewery beer or two and then I've seen others from Otter, Dancing Duck and Marstons on those two visits. Excellent location, friendly staff, pleasant pub with nice traditional decor and comfy seats. Some areas look more suitable for eating than drinking but other areas retain a nice 'pub' feel. dyyony - 25 Jan 2017 12:15 |
I called in the New Inn yesterday lunchtime when the pub was comfortably busy – mainly with diners, but I was NOT impressed by being charged £3.50 for a pint of Oakham JHB. I do not mind paying that sort of price for a high gravity beer, but for a low gravity (3.8% abv) brew, £3.50 a pint is a RIP OFF. I have no complaints about the quality of my pint or the choice of the three or four other beers on offer. That said, I won't be hurrying back ... steve2905 - 28 Feb 2015 07:30 |

Second best pub in Shardlow after the Crown. Good for drinking and dining alike. Beers always good with a Derby one usually on. Staff very friendly. jarofporter - 14 Mar 2012 16:19 |
Picking up business from the Malt, food is always good home cooked gear. Pedigree is reliable and they have good guest ales including Derby Brewing beers which are good. The small bar is just that and holds around 12 at the most, and its used as a walkway twix outside and bog. Worth a visit though. cryptomech - 22 Oct 2009 20:30 |
