This is a great pub in a lovely little village. We were there for the festival again this year and had both a breakfast on one morning which was absolutely spot on and then a roast lunch on the sunday which was one of the best pub lunch I have had for a long time. As we sat and ate in the garden at the back we were far enough away to not suffer the morris dancing happening in the street outside. A fair few ales were on and a great time was had by all. Worth a visit if in the area. Mad123 - 15 Aug 2012 16:18 |
Prices a bit steep but ale good I use this pub infrequently but its fine for a swift pint when on a walk, don't think I would stay a whole night here (probably couldn't afford it) locke - 12 Jul 2012 02:10 |
Visited this pub three times whilst staying at the Caravan cClub site Rookesbury Farm. The walk through the woods and onto the old railway line was muddy and took about 50 mins. When I saw that the Kings Head was a Fullers house I thought, London Pride, HSB and Seafarers, all of which I do not like particularly, especially the Seafarers. The Wild River was just in and I asked for a taste, WOW!!! what a beer, Fullers have a winner here. I am normally a Dark Star American Pale Ale drinker. This Wild River is a cross between APA and the Six Hop ale. Upon my return home I went to my local Fullers house but alas no Wild River. Getting back the Kings Head, nice pub, pleasant staff but a bit expensive the W River was 3.80 a pint but I still went back for more. kenbishop - 21 Jun 2012 15:04 |
A bit petty of me perhaps but I would recommend people post their reviews without commenting (as I am) on previous reviews - different day different experiences. Having just revisited - ale was good as was the cleanliness of the bar (NOT SO the gents loo). Atmosphere very convivial - food pleasant but not the best around. odbod - 28 Oct 2011 13:10 |
