A blight on Storrington's high street. We were served a decent pint of Doom Bar, but the Young's was turning to vinegar and cloudy. The food was mediocre at best and served in a scruffy dining room. The central fireplace adds a little badly-needed ambience, but the unforgivable let-down was the appalling service. We waited an hour to be served a few sandwiches and when we complained we were treated to abuse by the staff instead of an apology. In an era when many great pubs are going out of business, it is an insult that this one remains open. Ency - 20 Feb 2012 20:35 |
forgot my booking! when we got there, chef had gone home, no apology from landlord, not even a drink offered! Never again trudistarling - 21 Sep 2010 08:53 |
I booked a table for a Sunday evening, confirmed that they were open for food and had no entertainment on, even made specific request for a particular dish from their menu. When we arrived ( it was a birthday surprise) we were rudely told that they don't do food on Sunday evenings after 5pm ( I booked for 6.30) and never have, that there was a large notice outside that said exactly that ( I booked by telephone) My reservation. when he looked, was clearly written in their bookings register. We were not offered an apology, let alone a complimentary drink or compensation. Never again! trudistarling - 29 Aug 2010 20:04 |
Been past it a few times and finally took the plunge. Very pleasant indeed. London Pride, Anchor and Spitfire on the pumps and comfortable bar and restaurant areas. Fairly standard menu supplimented with some interesting specials and all nicely (and generously) presented. One for the list. REVERENDBAZ - 21 Aug 2006 09:27 |
