Oh how I wish I had read the reviews before visiting this pub !! To be fair the beer was in good condition but otherwise the over priced, unfriendly and out to fleece the tourist comments still apply. Go to the Lister Arms instead. SpicedVice - 2 Nov 2014 15:06 |
Some terrible reviews on here! We stayed and the rooms was perfect, along with the breakfast. And a bargain for the price. Had a couple of both types of timothy taylors on the evening and played pool, cards and hit the juke box. Staff helpful and friendly. We didnt eat in the evening but i wold say the menu looked expensive. Imho a fine pub. Mappiman - 19 May 2012 20:53 |
First, the good news: this is not my local. If it was, I'd have frequent flyer miles from the supermarket and be an authority on all things telly. Now for the bad news... It's all that a tourist trap is renowned for. Overly expensive beer, served at the wrong temperature, accompanied by overly expensive and distinctly average food. And lord help you, gentlemen, if you need to visit the toilet at the same time as another. You'll need a shoehorn to get in. All this is, depressingly, to be expected in a tourist area. But what is utterly inexcusable is to be asked to pay the same price for a pint of Coca-Cola (3.60) as for a pint of Taylor's Landlord. That is blatant profiteering and, in an area with no public transport, hardly conducive to promoting sensible attitudes towards a designated driver system. Locals and tourists alike deserve better. Called in after a walk to Malham cove, 3.15 for a pint of Timothy taylors golden best mild just above freezing, the stench in the toilets made it difficult to breath. Keep this in mind if you are thinking of ordering a vastly overpriced meal from this place. G7SYY - 5 Sep 2011 00:07 |
Went in early having walked nearly 20 miles to be told that they could not possibly do any extra meals tonight due a big party in the bar next door. Noted a good range of ales so returned later to find them doing food for another group. Hmm. Nice beer but something is lacking to really recommend this pub. GazzaTheBeerMan - 8 Jul 2011 13:20 |
