A bijou. Pretty pub near Soberton Church. And a 'Proper Pub' where there is cosy space for drinking and a separate area for eating but both served from a central bar. Warm welcome. Roaring log fire in winter. Trestle tables under colour umbrellas in summer. Wide but not OTT pub menu. Doom Bar on draught. Immaculate loos. Well recommended. snosnikrap - 11 Sep 2013 10:00 |
The pub has been shut for a few months but now has a new tenant and is due to open at the end of the month. oddbits - 14 Jan 2013 21:20 |
We checked this pub out yesterday. It was closed even though there was a menu sandwich board outside. It looked bit disorganised inside from a quite gander through the window. The house owner next door confirmed it was closed. Hopefully it will be back in business shortly as it was a lovely pub in the past. John.T - 9 Dec 2012 11:07 |
I am not a real ale drinker, but my mother (who is) informs me they have a good selection. I am more of a lager or Caffreys type peson, so the choice was limited here. I would NOT RECOMMEND this pub to anyone who wants a value meal and peace and quiet. The prices are shocking (6.95 for 5 prawns) and the portions small. I might be 'out of touch' with what things cost in the Uk these days (I visit twice a year to my hometown nearby), but for that you can get a 3 course meal in Spain. (And more prawns for your money ;) On a previous visit (when the past owenrs were in situ), we were given a sardonic grin when we arrived past 1230hrs on a Sunday and were expecting somewhere to sit and eat. We were there before opening time this time round, and got our choice of place. It soon filled up and proved that some folk have more money to spare than they are letting on. The only saving grace this time round was the bar/serving staff had improved 100% Despite this we will not be going back again. susanspain - 21 Oct 2011 04:24 |
It's been my local for a year now and it's still a cracking pub. The beer is good - two local breweries supply the four taps, the cider is good and the food is fantastic. Plus it won best pub/wine bar in the Portsmouth area. oddbits - 20 Jul 2010 20:37 |
