Looks inviting from the outside but inside it has 'nowt about it. Disappointingly characterless in such a characterful town. Sparse inside, with a couple of leather sofa' s (might need a hoist to get some of the more ample customers up from these). The ubiquitous John Smith's was very well kept. strangetorpor - 6 Feb 2015 09:58 |
Change of management from my last visit , surprise surprise, Enterprise forced em out! Three beers on my visit, including Theakstons XB. A real empty soulless place inside, with the odd settee and high chair table and loudish mucsic, it doesnt know what it wants to be. Could make it homely , put some bench seating in , small tables, shackleton chairs and frilly lamps, make it cool and give it a bit of credibility. Good for sitting in the square. brisk - 2 Nov 2012 13:05 |
Shame this pub could be fantastic - its the best pub to sit outside and ponder town with over a pint - apparently its been refurbished recently - honestly if thats a refurbishment...its just a plain crappy boozer inside with zero personality. Beer is fine, staff are fine, biker evening is Tuesday so come or steer clear as necessary. parmantom - 10 Sep 2012 13:07 |
Had four ales on when we visited a couple of hours before it got flooded - staff on the ball - beer quality acceptable kernott1 - 24 Jun 2012 18:27 |
Decent pub with good selection of ales. All well kept. Had a young duo singing and playing guitar the day I was in, they were very good, but as it was the day after the blues festival had finished, I guess the locals had had their fill of music so they were largely ignored. Bar staff seemed friendly. All in all, worth a visit. tommo1957 - 6 Jun 2012 14:12 |
