for a starter ben hasnt worked there in just over two years so you clearly need to get over it now.. secondly what are you on about the bottles are always cold because there kept in a fridge :/ thirdly the food is never cold maybe sometimes a little late but that would only be when the restaurant is busy. i havent had any complaints so it cant be too bad :) yeahsure. - 2 Dec 2009 14:32 |
Tell me about the slow service!!!! i agree with jmd, Bring back BEN!!!!!!!!!! he was a wicked bartender, as soon as you walk up those stairs and you saw he was on duty, you knew you were going to get drunk!! he would always make up his own shots and cocktails, I was his guinee pig on many occasions!!! lol I would always tip him a bit too, he was the only one of the bar team up there that you could have a laugh and a joke with, a lot of the others were always miserable, especially the guy that works monday and tuesday nights! with Ben he would always have a laugh and he was in charge of the bar too!!! its such a good quality to see that not all managers are locked in an office and treat thier staff like crap! he would do more than his share of work he could serve 10 times faster and better than most others, he is a living legend!!! If anybody knows where he's working now could you post on here, me and my mates would love to surprise him, he's the only bartender up there that once you've spent a night drinking you remember his name when you don't even remember your own! the place isn't the same without him, we heard that he was managing a bar in a hotel in London, we turned up after getting lost several times! to be confronted by a miserable restaurant manager that told us he had left and didn't know where he was. its a nice enough bar, but the beer is crap now, its normally warm, bottles are now warm, i dont mean to bang on but when ben was there he would nver serve a warm bottle, and the beer pumps were cleaned all the time, i remember i went there on a monday and he was telling me how he flooded the place while cleaning, it even dripped through the roof to the restaurant. lol i would really like to get back in touch with him, he is the king of bartenders and the sportsbar has lost it's best ever bartender/manager no one can even come close, the guy that his his job now needs a slap let alone lessons from ben, the new guys a miserable fat guy with spikey hair :( until Ben is back or he has a child that works there Sportsbar R.I.P. cidervisor - 19 Mar 2007 17:12 |
VERY slow service, the barmen were to busy flirting with young girls to actually do their job. I went there before going to the cinema, and only had one drink due to bad service. Has potential, but you need barstaff who are willing to serve everyone, not dribble over any group of young women drunkasusual - 19 Feb 2007 18:56 |
It's not to bad of a place considering it's in a shopping centre, there is enough to do to entertain everyone. the prices are a little on the high side to say the least!! the staff on the whole seem to be good, there used to be a barman working here called Ben, think he was a manager or supervisor or something, but he was without a doubt the best barman I have ever seen, think he has taken joooody's crown as bar tender king. He's left there now and you can see the difference in the place, he had such a character behind the bar, he would make everyone laugh, he was super quick too, sometimes our rounds would be over 20 drinks, he would remeber them, I'd give him a nod and he would start pulling the pints and flipping the bottles, as well as serving about 5 other people flirting with anything with a pulse at the bar and keeping all of the staff inline. He is a legend, if anyone knows where he is now please let me know as i want to catch up with him. enough about Ben, so overall i think that it is a ok bar if you are in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way just to go there, but if I was in the centre its well worth pooping in for a pint or two, after you've re-mortgaged your house. j_m_d - 11 Jan 2007 18:08 |
Worst bar in the world award should goto this lot, awful service, beer is like reused vomit, and the food turns up LATE all the time and ALWAYS COLD. Given it the benefit of the doubt but always come off worse, want to kick the crap out of the guv there. monstergeeza - 13 Sep 2006 12:14 |
