Could be better. Barmaids very talkative to the regular locals, perhaps too much so.
Music should be turned down or better still, off.
Beer was OK though.
Interesting building.

This could be one of the best pubs in mortehoe unfortunatly its barstaff prevent it from being so,i have just spent a week in mortehoe and called in the ship every night but found it odd that the same round of drinks were a different price each time , we did question this but got no answer ,we were then charged for a drink we didnt receive after questioning this mistake the barmaids reactions were very rude and unprofessional calling my husband a liar and saying they were sick of us complaining they then refused to serve us,after this most people in the pub left becauae they were disgusted in the barmaids attitude , we wont be going again, too much drinking going on behind the bar and too many mistakes being made.

I had an excellent lunch here last September - homemade fish cakes which actually had fish in them! A couple of welcome pints of Otter washed them down and the friendly barman suggested using the little patio overlooking the church if I wanted to catch a few rays.

OK slightly pricey but then it's a short season up here in North Devon.

Would not normally write a negative review but I feel compelled as this was one of the worst meals I've ever had in a pub. We waited for over an hour even though the pub was relatively quiet for a Saturday and when the food arrived it was terrible. Undercooked chips made in stale cooking oil was the low point. When I asked for some 'cooked chips' I got given another bowl of the horrible ones. The service was rude and the prices were very overpriced for what was delivered.

Seems such a shame that in such a beautiful setting there is not one pub that serves freshly made, seasonal and local food with local ales. The pubs really did let mortehoe down... for anyone visiting I recommend fish and chips or a bbq in the campsite.

Found this to be a very pleasant pub. Situated next to the chip shop it has a little garden area at the front to watch the world shuffle by. Plenty of space inside and is all low-hanging beams and tradition. Welcomes Dogs and Children so long as neither makes a mess, and the beers Exmoor and Doom Bar were decent. Meals were a bit pricey, but the aforementioned chip shop wasn't so bear that in mind.
Accepts Credit cards so long as the purchase is over 10. No Cash points in Mortehoe and the nearest is in Woolacombe.
Highly recommended.
