Really pleased to say that this pub is still fantastic. New landlord has opened a new bar. Very tastefully done. All the character has Been retained. The beer and food are a real treat.enjoy this classic country pub. potrix - 28 Dec 2011 23:15 |
Your hopes and prayers have been answered bighands......I know that Tony and Moya will successfully care for The Gate. I last visited this pub in 1992... I've been away for too long, but I will call in next week for my first pint of Sheps in a very long time. Good luck tony and Moya.... greekman - 2 Dec 2011 11:50 |
A lovely peaceful country pub with delicious home cooked food and a beautiful beer garden by a stream. Have been here on numerous occasions with family and sampled various yummy dishes. Staff are always very friendly lynzUK - 2 May 2011 22:55 |
After 35 years, and at the age of seventy, Chris Smith is about to retire on 31st May 2011. The Gate Inn is an iconic pub and has few equals. For all the supporters and wellwishers this is a heavy blow. Our hopes and prayers are that Shepherd Neame find a suitable replacement and that this tradition can continue ~ but it'll be the toughest act to follow. bighands - 3 Feb 2011 18:51 |
No till No credit cards No piped music No chips No chavs! This is the best pub we have ever been to. We live half an hours drive but we consider this our local now. The food is completely home cooked and huge. The staff are very friendly. Most importantly for us, they allow dogs and are very dog friendly. In the winter, its very cosy, log fire etc. In the summer you can sit outside near the river that runs through the garden. warning, it gets busy, there is only a bit of parking, get there early as they stop serving food at about 8 in the evening (I think) and in the summer its very busy. nooboots - 24 Jan 2010 20:20 |
