Food was not bad. Price was fair. Like others, we took the chance of 10 for 2 meals for lunch during weekday. We ordered the Chicken salad. It's a smaller portion but ok if you wanted a light lunch. However, the avocado mentioned in the Chicken Salad was not actually served in the dish. We both ordered the same dish but neither of us could find a piece of avocado. That's the down side. We keep going back to to The White Lion it's such a civilised place. There's always a good choice of beers on draught, and we've never had cause for complaint about the food. Last week we took advantage of the two meals for 10 offer and really enjoyed our lunch. It can get busy, especially when the weather's nice it seems busloads of people descend on Tenterden when the sun comes out but we've always found the service to be pretty slick even when under pressure. pressforaction - 28 Mar 2011 07:58 |
Plenty of different style seating inside and an outside front 'garden' area for drinking on a warm day. 4 different Ale's on tap when visited. martins2 - 10 May 2010 16:24 |
Had a nice pint of Jennings Cumberland before a very pleasant Sunday lunch with friends. The service was a bit on the slow side as there was a significant time gap between placing the order and the arrival of the food. We wondered whether the kitchen was awaiting the arrival of a larger party so all could have freshly cooked vegetables? We were offered (& accepted!) a bottle of wine for the price of 2 glasses. Food was very good, except that I didn't get the requested "rare" roast beef, tho' one seldom does. Overall, good value for money - 10.95 each for the 2 course lunch, and they reimburse you with the cost of the parking in the "Pay & display" at the rear of the pub, if you are dining. Will go again, but watch out for large prebooked parties! TheOtherMike - 1 Dec 2009 10:58 |
Nice enough place. 4 or 5 real ales although one was off and another other ran out when the barman started pulling it. I settled for the Long Hop which seemed appropriate as we'd just bowled an inordinate number of them to the local cricket team who duly thrased the pants off us! Very nice it was, too (the beer that is, not the thrashing !). It's a pleasant sort of place, very clean with tables inside and out. Drinks are on the expensive side of pricey - though this is Tenterden I suppose. Any place where the local electrical store can justify selling Bang and Olufsen is always going to be a bit like that I guess. Food looked ok and they had a 2 for a tenner deal on which probably offsets the prices of the drinks somewhat if you want to eat there. Would come back if in the area but probably not for a special visit. Cover_Point - 1 Sep 2009 09:19 |
