Went in on a friday night, pub is clean and well kept seems to have an emphasis on food. However you can get a pint of lager and a pint of real ale for less than 5 which in this day and age is very good. Beer well kept did not try the food. beershot - 13 Jul 2011 17:23 |
Excellent carvery-best on the island. Beer is also good. HOWEVER it is an absolute nightmare to get parked at any reasonable eating time!! Seems like you need to be there by 12.00 or between 4.00 and 6.00pm to stand any chance. If it's a cheap, good quality carvery meal washed down with good well kept ale you're after then do give The Sloop a try. peteward - 31 Oct 2010 15:14 |
We were there last week (twice!) and I can confirm all that has been said by the last two posters. The food is excellent (particularly for the money), the beer is good and the staff try hard. Not particularly cramped but keep away during the 'kid hours' although I have to say most were well behaved. This is now run by a chain calling themselves "Crown Carveries" so perhaps the food has perked up since Firedrake's time. Robby_Boy - 24 Aug 2009 15:58 |
This is a clean well run road house. The food will not be featured in any Michelin reviews, but you could eat here ten times for what that would cost. It's recent refurb is very pleasant, nice to see somone puts back some profits in it's infrastructure. The location is wonderful on a sunny day with views of Wooton Creek and boats moored in it. Very handy for the ferry if you arrive early and wish to slup or snack. Food is served all day which is a premium, and the staff are very helpful. Kid friendly but unfortunately not dog friendly after a few irresponsible dog owners left more than a tip. WhirlingDervish - 11 Aug 2009 09:11 |
This pub is great mid-week while the kids are at school with view along the creek. Also the all-day roast carvery is good value at 3.95 with 2 yorkies and as much veg as you care to pile on. Beer (Ringwood) was good condition. For the prices I can only recommend. Kids start coming at 4ish, and I would be cautious once the schools break up. Cheap grub for hungry families is bound to attract the hoards at weekends. Still, pick your times and it's OK. mim - 7 Jul 2009 15:12 |
