Used to pop in on visits to see my Mum until it closed. Have now been in about 6 times since the village bought and refurbished it. Wow - what a change. Cosy old fashioned bar with Doom Bar and various XT ales (from nearby Long Crendon). Separate dining area with a great menu beautifully cooked. There's a nice little dining snug as well. I don't eat every time (but wish I did) and can't give everything a good sampling (driving) My Mum is getting suspicious of my increased visiting frequency and sympathetic to all the M40 traffic that makes me late every time! galactico - 2 Jul 2015 16:45 |
A new tenant/chef in place this week with a new menu which had some interesting choices at prices average for the area. Although I did not eat, the food looked good. Ales on were Doom Bar (yawn) and Vale Brewers Choice which certainly was a good choice and according to a local the new host has even reduced some of the drinks prices. Long may he reign! yellowfever - 8 Nov 2014 19:13 |
This is a proper village pub with a great cross section of customers who all get on well, real ales in abundance and sensible priced pub food. the tenant landlord Steve makse every one welcome and is mantaining the good balance between drinkers and diners. the garden is popular and families are welcome. I love this pub and its users it is now owned by the customers and villagers which will protect its future . mike miketheglass - 28 Jul 2012 12:25 |
This pub has just been bought by the villagers and long may it thrive. Called by on a Saturday as we were in the area. Very pleasant, really nice gardens and three real ales on tap, (being that the pub is in the heart of Oxfordshire shame two of them came from cornwall). They had a BBQ going and what we had was really very nice and well presented by very friendly staff. The tenant was a nice chap - good to talk to. If you are in the area give this pub a visit. THIS GREAT VILLAGE PUB IS UNDER THREAT OF CLOSURE IT HAS BEN CLOSED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW. WELL ITS GOOD NEWS I WENT INTO THE PLOUGH TODAY AND ASKED THE NEW PUB MANAGER WHEN IS IT TO REOPEN , IT`S NEXT THURSDAY FEBRUARY THE2ND 2012 !!!!!! SO THERE IS A GOD THIS ARRIVES JUST IN TIME TO GET US ALL RE-HYDRATED,THE NEW GUY DID LOOK LIKE HE WAS GOING TO STAY FOR A WHILE AS THEY WERE TAKING BEDS UPSTAIRS. I AM ALSO LIKE MANY OTHERS IN GREAT HASELY SUPPORTING THE COMMUNAL OWNERSHIP SCHEME WHICH NOW HAS ITS OWN WEBSITE WHERE A SAMPLE LETTER CAN BE DOWNLOADED EXPRESSING DISLIKE FOR THE PUB TO BE SOLD FOR DEVELOPMENT TO PUT PRESSURE ON THE COUNCIL S.O.D.C. TO NOT EVEN TO CONSIDER GRANTING PLANNING PERMISSION THIS PUB MEANS SO MUCH TO THE RESIDENTS OF GREAT HASELY AND EXISTING CUSTOMERS LIKE ME. miketheglass - 27 Jan 2012 15:50 |
