I've always loved this pub, going back years, good beer, happy locals, lovely garden, unpretentious, that's a good thing, met the new landlord on July 13th 2011, been dying to get back over there ever since PrincessDarren - 18 Nov 2011 01:12 |
A nice friendly pub with a log burning fireplace. We had some lovely food from their new fantastic but eccentric Spanish chef. would defiantly recommend it to families. WILL BE GOING BACK SOON. anonymous00 - 18 Nov 2010 13:06 |
This is a friendly, fairly busy village pub on the edge of Oxford. They serve a fair selection of real ales, usually at least two, although I'm always driving when I come here, so I've not tasted them. sloe_jane - 25 Jan 2010 20:09 |
It was my first visit. I parked in the ample carpark. Every assistance was offered to me by the manager (whom I had interrupted writing up the menu of three starters and six main dishes) in taking my 96 year old friend down the steps into the bar/diner. This was well set out with some customers at the bar while ourselves and others lunched at very pleasant tables nicely spaced. We had bowls of a truly award-winning soup with hot crisp bread rolls followed by mushroom tarts with fresh salad and potatoes and large glasses of wine. The bill for two was 25. When we left after a couple of hours we were once more helped to negotiate the steps. In between the manager was assisted by his unobtrusive staff, I can't overpraise him for the attention he gave us and for the quality of his inn. He told me that he had gone to Germany to recruit the chef. He has made this a solid quality place for those who appreciate a level-headed conscientious professional service. senior - 7 Dec 2009 11:55 |
We are new to the area and tried the Vine twice recently. On each occasion the greeting was very warm, the service very relaxed, informal and friendly and our guests insisted we take them here again. Food was good, the wine was well received and the beer was excellent. The only thing warmer than the welcome was the wood burner. We shall return. Chillout - 28 Jan 2009 18:35 |
