Metal and goth pub. One ale only on pump on my visit (a Tuesday afternoon) and pleasant enough but nothing special. wobblybob - 30 May 2017 20:59 |
It could be worse Martinsh. Some pubs only knock off one penny from the price of a pint for a half, but thanks for the warning. eddybeer - 3 Jan 2017 13:42 |
People who drink halves BEWARE ! On my visit here I was charged £2 for a half of a beer that was only £3.30 a pint ! Apart from that, it is more or less as previous posters have described it – a magnet for Metalmaniacs ! The whole place is very dark, most of the clientele wearing leather and chains, tables made out to look like occupied coffins, and a large chair that looks like something straight out of a wargames workshop ! There were 2 cask ales available, but it was difficult to spot them through all the other clutter on the bar. I won’t be going again. Martinsh - 2 Jan 2017 22:16 |
METALLLLLL!!!!!! (sos got carried away there!) Yes it`s a rock pub, as said, lovely outside and all black and blood red inside. Another essential pub to visit when in town....HORNS UP!!!! Blastbeat - 28 Oct 2016 11:25 |
I always visit this pub when in Wolverhampton, which is often enough and thought it was about time that i rated it. The exterior is fantastic. It is mock stone faced perpendicular (Tudor) styled town house, built in the 1920s, I think (I used to work in Wolverhampton, many years ago) The pub is known for being a haven for the Goth/Alternative clientele, but its fantastically welcoming to all, even an archivist with waistcoat and fob-watch! The interior is dark, wooden, with interesting coffin tables and an impressive throne that sits like the judgement of Solomon in the middle of the pub. Real ales always on, as well as the usual taps, though no MILD. Sadly, on my last visit, the Hobgoblin had disappeared and i had to have the Wells Bombardier, a basic alternative. Will continue to visit Archivist - 24 May 2009 10:31 |
