I visited on a Saturday lunchtime and was somewhat surprised by the lack of patrons. Tho real ales on - I had Arkell's 3B's. The other beer was a bitter from the West Berkshire brewery. I didn't have any food but a pair of polo players (I kid you not) sat near me and did and it looked jolly nice. The place seemed strangely devoid of atmosphere. twm_sion_cati - 1 May 2011 15:41 |
This pub is in a really good location, and looks nice from the outside. The inside is cosy, however they have a VERY modern extension at the back which doesnt really fit in with the rest of the pub. The staff are ok, not the best, but then the times ive been there its been very quiet so maybe they are just bored! Food and drink prices are resonable and the selection is very good. The food is always really good, ive never had any complaints, very good quality so i wonder why its always quiet?? I normally always have the pie, huge portion size, yummy veg and perfect mash! would recommened for food quality but not if you want any atmosphere! jrubens1967 - 12 Apr 2011 12:14 |

The one time we visited, for lunch on a Saturday, the main part of the pub was practically empty, there was a party (might have been a wedding or anniversary) going on in the back. Carpet was a mess - large burns, a bit sticky in places. The food (simple sandwiches with salad & fries) was very uninspiring. I won't be hurrying back... ewand - 17 Jan 2010 20:59 |
