We rushed here yesterday believing that it closed at 3pm on a Sunday and does not open in the evening. In actual fact, it closes at 2:30pm. But luckily for us, the landlady did serve us. There was one other couple at the bar and a group of 4 settling their food bill. Very soon, we were the only customers left. But the interior is nicely set out. There is a good selection of board games. Ales were West Berkshire Good Old Boy & Magg's Magnificent Mild & Loose Cannon Gunner's Gold. There was no real cider. Our visit was a bit rushed. But at least we got to sample the local in this lovely village. blue_scrumpy - 16 Jul 2018 20:47 |
A good village pub, with a wide menu, well-kept beer and a pleasant welcome. One worth checking out after a walk. Arctium_lappa - 17 Feb 2013 23:01 |
A nice friendly welcome on a Friday night for our 19:30 dinner. After ordering our drinks we were given the choice of choosing from the menu in the small bar area or in the restaurant - we choose the restaurant since there was about to be a hen party and there were already several other couples choosing in the small bar area. The dinner courses arrived without a long wait and were noted for their excellent presentation and for being very tasty. Good quality drinks and excellent service. We can highly recommend a visit. mdd150407 - 1 May 2010 17:53 |
Best pub we've been in for Sunday lunch for a while. We were a group of (very wet and muddy) mountain bikers and were nevertheless made to feel very welcome. The Sunday lunch menu was a choice of either two or three courses; roasts and various others; and was good value as well as very good food. There was a good choice of beers and we stayed long into the afternoon. Definately one to visit again. AJM - 1 Feb 2009 17:19 |
Visited prior to Christmas and it's a pleasant walk from Midgham station and a short descent to Aldermaston [The Butt Inn]. Mr Chubbs on tap and a quiet but welcoming atmosphere. No menu as they appeared to be gearing up for xmas parties so no comment. sevensleepers - 28 Dec 2008 10:40 |
