Popped in for a quick pint on my way back to our campsite from the nearby Coach & Horses. Lovely location, massive garden with a decent play area, inside the pub feels very gastro. Three ales, from memory - Ghost Ship, Doom Bar and Wherry. Beer was fine but although I couldn't put my finger on what, there felt like there was something missing from inspiring me to want to return. duchyjim - 30 May 2018 22:57 |
Went to the Feathers last weekend during our stay at Dersingham. Looked on BITE before going and was suprised to see pub nothing like previous reviews. On speaking to Chris the landlord found he had been in just over a year and between him and the much maligned Punch Taverns has spent circa 200,000 on improvements with more to come. If points were awarded on enthusiasm of the landlord this place would rate 10/10. OK food wasn't quite up to scratch (the beef and ale pie crust was hard) Chris gracefully acknowledged this and told us it was being removed from the menu, if you think this is harsh bear in mind one of our group was a chef with over 40 years experience. The rest of the dining experience was excellent, can recommend the pan seared liver. Beer at the time of our visit was Adnams Broadside, Ghost Ship (lovely) and Wherry very well looked after, only criticism was service could be slow in the back to back bars. Chris admitted he was struggling to find staff and adjust the correct levels. All in all, a pub to be proud of in a small rural village. boforbill - 20 May 2012 20:34 |
Called in again, two and a half years after my previous visit. My, how this place has changed. I have revised my rating from 7 to 3. The Woodfordes Werry was good, The steak and mushroom, sorry, that should read, the mushroom and steak pie, was almost tasteless. Phantom_Pigeon - 16 May 2011 10:21 |
Called in for lunch 22 Sept whilst visiting Sandringham. Classic old place which looked promising. But No. Beer range was poor and unimaginative and the baguettes were long life baps. The landlord obviously can't be bothered; so neither will we bother to call by in the future. GrahamH - 28 Sep 2010 09:30 |
