Stayed here for a couple of nights and really pleased we did. The room was very clean and comfortable, and quite large. As to the pub itself, it's a great little place. We were made to feel most welcome by the staff and local alike. There were two real beers on - TT Landlord and Grainstore Springtime. Both in excellent order and reasonably priced. They had GK IPA as well. The food was to die for, and they seem petrified that you will go away hungry - The portions need to be seen to be believed. As to a return visit, we've already booked. Neighbours had raved about this pub for ages and we finally got to go with them for lunch. No doubt about it - excellent. Tiny bar, and the taller amongst us need to watch the headroom, but a real, working, welcoming country pub. Lunch was delicious and, whilst not cheap, was we thought well worth it. Good beer in the bar and the place escapes the trap some rural pubs fall into of being self-consciously twee and "destination", A cheery shooting party lunching in a big side room added to the feel that this was a pub at the service of the community. guayabera - 26 Nov 2012 16:57 |
A very pretty village with a pub that has been rejuvenated from where it was a few years back. It has a deserved reputation for excellent food. Need to book well in advance particularly at weekends. A small bar with a cracking open log fire. Always a couple of hand pulled ales on and always a warm welcome. Of particular note is the shop attached to the pub which sells the same quality as is served in the pub restaurant. They even sell their own brand chocolate. dannyr - 21 Dec 2011 20:15 |
