| In the 70's I worked at this pub, it was owned by Terrie and Jennie Walker Spiers. I thought of them as very kind and generous people. I met people there from all over the world, every month or so more friends would come in from other countries. I met some of the most interesting and talented people. Currently I live in California, but I must admit, I do miss those nights of working at the Wheatsheaf, 5 rows deep of nothing but pint glasses waving in front of your eyes...great music playing...and a full night of the after parties on the weekends. | I did pop in yesterday just for old times sake and must admit the current owners have given it a good revamp and update but alas it is personally not for me. | A small pub which tries to cram too many people in with loud, obnoxious bands. Thought this place had died a long overdue death, but to no avail. Last time I visited, there were three handpumps, one of which was turned round and two showing as available. The landlord declared that one of the remaining two was, indeed, off, but gave me a vacant look when I suggested he should perhaps turn the pump clip around. The remaining beer, Greene King IPA, came out as pure froth. The landlord, unsurprisingly, declared this to be off too.
