| An attractive pub overlooking a vast common with a carpark to the front and plenty of roadside parking and a garden with children's play area to the side. There is also a smaller seating area outside the front door. You enter into the bar area with another seating area to the right and a dining area to the rear. There are a choice of three regular ales and a constantly changing guest, the beers on my visit being Greene King IPA, Adnams Southwold Bitter, Timmy Taylor Landlord and an Otter summer special, the name escaping me. Unfortunately the Otter was not really to my taste although there was nothing wrong with it but the Adnams was as good as I have had anywhere. | Went here for lunch and a pint. The TT Landlord's (£3.90) was a very nice pint. A small Pinot Grigio (£4.35) was nice but a tad expensive. Pub interior is cool, clean and attractive and the exterior has been really smartened up recently with children's swings etc now installed in the garden. They proved popular for families and gave the pub over to adults. Good menu though it was a mistake (for us) to go for the Mushroom 'Stroganoff' (£9.95). This was served with pilau rice and a poppadam, had few mushrooms it it - even fewer sliced - and it came with an orange asian-style spicy sauce. Nice, but not what we expected; though we should perhaps have known to ask from the pilau rice and extras that were mentioned on the menu. Overall bill for lunch for two: £28.15 in July 2015. | just finished sunday roast there, what a waste of time, same specials on the board as when i went in a few months back, roast was absolutley tastless, i needed an army of salt pots and horseradish to get through it. proper cheap cuts of meat..dont waste your time eating here. as this is beer in the evening and not food at lunch time, i must confess the beer was spot on, guest ale has a good turn over, tried the exmoor wild cat, could not stay for another pint as my mouth was in need of flavour an odd thing on a full belly.. verdit - great country pub, olde worlde inside with good beer, stay away from the food at all costs jamietravel - 19 Sep 2010 13:23 |
| A friend had told me about The Red Lion Studham, so i gave it a go. A real cosy warm feeling pub. Good beer and polite staff, so it won't be my last visit. satsuma - 22 Oct 2008 14:46 |
