The key point to remember here is: Places like The Golden Heart DO NOT RELY ON REPEAT BUSINESS. When you book a table for 8pm for a party of eight, and arrive at the establishment for 7:45pm, then order drinks at the bar while studying the Menu, you’re looking for an enjoyable evening, FAR FROM IT ! We were told our table wasn’t ready as the previous booking had just left, so it will be available shortly, 20 mins passed and my son went into the restaurant and asked when can we sit, he was told 10 mins, so that was half an hour gone out of our evening. We all sat at the table and ordered more drinks, after again we went in pursue of a waiter, to take our order, the drink’s came -then we waited for our food order to be taken 20mins later, our starter arrived approx 30mins after that !, which didn’t look very appetising as a sharing plate,50% of it was not consumed. By 21:50 our main food had not arrived, we asked where is our order, the waiter said 10mins, two meals came to our table after about 10 mins then minutes later we were told ‘’sorry have you touch the food as this is somebody else’s order’’ Well after weeks of planning of our get together, and getting people to travel from distances a far for a special celebration, we grabbed our coats and voted with our feet, we were intervened by a manageress and again was told ''sorry but the foods here she'' said, we replied ‘’ it’s 10pm, we haven’t eaten, we have been here since 7:45’’, we paid for the drinks and left with a managerial excuse saying the manager will phone you, he did 2 days later explaining he was busy on the night? Saying sorry on my answer phone…! Some apology? Not! Mr Manager, common sense would tell you that any business that offers a service and employs people who do not understand the fundamental basics of the service they are offering should be doomed to failure. The Golden Heart, Winterbourne Down, Bristol appears to be one of the exceptions, which brings me back to my first point: Places like The Golden Heart DO NOT RELY ON REPEAT BUSINESS, Thank you for ruining our and my night! robsworldtoday - 1 Dec 2013 09:07 |
Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. Very warm and cosy. Welcoming atmosphere, comfortable seating, perfect for whiling away the afternoon with the Sunday papers. Food choice looked good, but can't comment. Large garden for the summer. Well worth a visit. MrBlue - 24 Oct 2012 13:53 |
Went for a meal on Saturday after the re-opening of the pub. Staff were friendly and the food was brilliant. Some dishes were a little pricey for some but the quality of food was great. Hopefully the pub will grow from strength to strength and it will be a great place to show off to friends! mike76 - 6 Apr 2011 04:30 |
Used to be a good family pub with good food, I am very sorry to report that further to a change in management the golden heart is a pub to a avoid. On a recent visit the food standard was very poor and general manager (Shane) extremely rude. It's bad enough that local pubs are struggling to stay in business, can't believe that the owners of this one are happy to see standards nosedive so quickly. Chef&brewer/Punch - I suggest you take a look for yourselves asap, in the meantime I'll be taking all of my business elsewhere. D123 - 20 Sep 2010 14:49 |
Has a sign outside claiming to be a traditional Somerset pub. Top marks for attention to detail. downender - 20 Jan 2010 22:23 |
