WOW, loved this pub, came across it by accident as saw it from the bus when returning to campsite after a day of drinking in Weston, luckily the bus stopped outside so we got off and went in the pub. This is a locals pub but we were made to feel welcome, the beer was great ended up staying until fairly late. Sadly got lost in the country lanes afterwards, walked around for hours in the pitch dark, but that's another story AnchormanMike - 23 Dec 2014 11:35 |
Great pub, worth a visit. Food is all home made (other than fried cod), even the chips, great value, good price for decent wine. Landlord a down-to-earth Brummy, very welcoming, especially to our dog who got her own biscuit! We will be back with friends at Easter, so see you all there! Bubbly48 - 29 Jan 2014 17:01 |
FANTASTIC NIGHT - IGNORE ANY REVIEW OVER SIX MONTHS OLD. We were invited to a party here on Saturday night and you can't help but to read previous reviews so were a little dubious. The pub has recently changed management, and is now a good friendly pub. Service was excellent, they could not have been better, tried to accommodate us however they could with nothing being too much trouble. Their kitchen is still under refurbishment, (although should be fully functional in July I think they said), so the landlord allowed us to bring our own food in. Good variety of drinks at reasonable prices, and a very friendly and cheerful atmosphere. We will definitely be returning in the very near future, and can't wait until they start doing food themselves. - Could quite easily become our new favourite. SMatthews3000 - 24 Jun 2013 11:20 |
Disappointing to see old reviews stating how awful this pub used to be. Popped into the New Inn whilst visiting from Bath as noticed the sign stating that it was 'Under New Management'. Staff were lovely and welcoming and I can confirm that the beer tasted great! A lot of variety to chose from including Butcome and Rare Breed. I was also informed by the bar staff that they are in process of refurbishing the kitchen and tea rooms, so I look forward to visitng again to try some of the food and other delights they have on offer once the tea rooms are open. Not a lot in the way of decent pubs in this part of the world! An abortive search for a long gone pub called the Long John Silver which no local under the age of 70 hads heard of led us the The Commodore at the end of Sand Bay - that looked truly grim! Walk along the road behind the hospital and you come acrosss the New Inn which is under new management according to a sign in the window. 7 of us aged 19 to 80 received a warm welcome after a long walk around the headland - we had 2 spaniels with us, water and a welcome was provided for them too. Both Butcombe ales we tried were well kept and tasty, no complaints either from the lager, cider and wine drinkers in our number. No food alas, but the friendly young man behind the bar explained that the kitchen is currently beiung refurbished so fingers crossed. Crisps, nuts and scratchings had to be enough to fortify us for the walk back to our accomosdation. Well worth trying for the beer, we will be back to try the food next time we are down this way.
