Had a meal in this pub recently was not impressed slow service and the food was not great. The beer on the other hand the beer was excellent and the locals in the bar where pleasant. Will pay it another visit.

I can only assume that the reviews below were mostly based on a previous management. We've visited this pub twice in the last couple of months. The most recent visit being last night, 16th June 2012.

The restaurant and bar area were very busy. Always a good sign. The restuarant service and food was excellent. We expect a bit of a wait for fresh food and the atmosphere and live music more than made up for that. Best steak pudding I've ever had.

Forget the negative comments. This is the place to go but you'll need to book as others are into the secret ;-)

Has acquired good local reputation for its food especially the Sunday carvery. Our experience has always been of prompt, polite service and a good range of food and beverages. The owners appear to be ploughing their profits gradually back into refurbishing the pub. The current work being done on the garden and the need to refurb the bar toilets is the only reason I've given it an 8 and not a 10.

Haven't popped in here for a while so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Despite coming under new ownership in the last year or two, at this time of year the improvement works don't look to be progressing too quickly but it is a VAST improvement on before. What we have now is a good old fashioned local pub and when I went in the fire was going, the bar was decked out for xmas, and the xmas CD was playing. Lovely. The barmaid was polite and courteous and the Harveys Old Ale (I'm not a big Harveys man by any means) was absolutely delicious; well kept, topped up on request... Superb pint of beer. A lad on the next table ordered food and it looked great, big portions. But until a group turned up, me and the lad were the only people in there and the question has to be asked, why? Is it TOO 'local' feeling? Have I just become accustomed to identikit country pubs? I had a very enjoyable couple of pints in this pub, one which is like pubs should be, but something is missing and I can't put my finger on what it is. I would certainly recommend it but don't expect to be blown away.

Had the misfortune to use the Kings Head for my mother's wake. Very poor quality of food and the toilets in the bar was frankly disgusting. Poor value for money, 9 per head and 1.70 for a cup of tea. Beware!
