I like the Hill. the food is good and the beer is nice. the prices are cheap. nice mix of people turn up there both studenty types and the young professionals. music is good lots of TV's for the sports, which im not a massive fan of but they only seem to put the sound on for the busier games so its not rammed down your throat all the time.

This is Cotham, not Clifton. Nondescript large pub that I cannot imagine going to unless I really wanted to watch a football match with three hundred students.

A large pub just off of the Whiteladies Road strip, known as Crockers for many years, then a spell as some Irish themed pub as I recall, and now called The Hill. It seems to be more of a sports bar than your traditional pub, with a pool table at one end, a large projector screen at the other and another four plasmas dotted around, which seemed a little excessive. They were all showing a football match, and the commentary was on a little too loudly.

Theres a long bar opposite you as you walk in, and a smaller bar in the corner which is used for food preparation. Theres a stone baked pizza oven in the corner which is an interesting feature, and its pizzas that the menu majors on, with a good choice of eight or nine of them and a very limited choice of anything else. Theres a couple of leather sofas with low tables down at one end and a few leather covered stools as well. A few of the tables in the large window offer a good view of the street outside. The pub seemed a bit male dominated, with several guys sporting tattoos.

Beers on offer were just Doom Bar and keg Bombadier, the latter of which appeared to be off. The cider was Blackthorn.

Geographically just about in cotham , but really only a few yards down the road from clifton down station , so really still student country . a bar in a funny location , you could easily be on the waterfront , no real ale , unless you call john smith a real , tinny, wooden, expensive . okay i suppose if your just out of school uniform or of that mentality .

Unless it's quiet this place gets me agitated. Full of pretentious people. Only one ale on offer. Expensive. If you go for the football there are lots of screens but tables spread throughout so if you stand your in someones way and if you sit people block your view. Consolation...the pizzas are worth it especially when 2-4-1.
