This is definitely not a pub, but its on here so Ill review it. Im not sure it even qualifies as a bar, its really much more of a restaurant and doesnt pretend to be anything else. That said, there is a small bar area at the front with a couple of high tables in the open window which is a pleasant spot. The backdrop to the bar is a floor to ceiling wine rack with a sliding ladder to get to the higher shelves. Once beyond the bar area though its very much a restaurant with a Mexican theme as you would expect from the name. Food wasnt at all bad, I enjoyed my spiced chicken enchilada and preferred both the food and the ambience in here compared to my visit to their harbourside branch a few months back. Very disappointing choice of drinks on draught, with no beer or cider, just San Miguel lager. Drinks prices seemed a little steep, e.g.; Corona was 3.40 a bottle. So, do I mark this as a Mexican restaurant (not bad) or as a pub (very poor)? As this is BITE, I feel obligated to tend towards the latter, so Im afraid its a low mark. If youre after a Mexican though, give it a go. Blackthorn - 4 Sep 2010 16:29 |
Latin American restaurant and bar. Excellent (but pricey) cocktails; very strong. Quite a small bar, so not great for large groups, but great for drinks with a group up to about 6 people. Latin music in background, creates a good holiday, happy feeling. Worth checking out when doing a Whiteladies crawl. fran - 10 Mar 2010 16:36 |
