A long, narrow pub that looks as though it may have been recently refurbished. Its got quite a dark feel to it with dark wooden boards on the floor and black paintwork, although in spite of that it doesnt feel too gloomy. Its a single room affair, with the bar counter about half way up on the left. There are some large windows out on to the street at the front, and this is a pleasant enough spot to sit. There was a plasma mounted up on the wall showing a football match, and a few old adverts hung on the walls, along with some wood panelling on the lower part of the walls. There were a few characters around as you might expect, but overall it seems a decent enough pub. Beers on tap were a slightly unadventurous Courage, Butcombe and Doom Bar. Ciders were Blackthorn and Thatchers Gold, the latter being priced at a very reasonable 2.25 a pint. Blackthorn - 24 Jan 2012 18:02 |
We found this a decent pub with friendly service and a nice menu, although we missed our chance to have lunch here. Too bad because the food coming out looked really good with large portions. Service was prompt and friendly, the pints were reasonably priced. We had sveral pints of Courage Best each. I would surely come back here on another visit to Bristol. fr21555 - 16 Feb 2009 19:27 |
Reopened as a pub, thankfully. The refurb is good; it's a characterful pub with a lovely bar. Early days, but the beer is unimaginative and variable, and lets hope the oddbods keep to their side of the road in the 'Half Price Home Shopping Emporium' (free delivery to the pub! All items in original wrapping!) that is the skinny place opposite. curioushistory - 8 Jul 2008 17:04 |
