Thwaites pub on a crossroads west of Bury. It appears to have a good reputation for food. But there was at least one other person here just for the ales. Thwaites beers were Original, Nutty Black, Black Bull Bitter & Wainwright. They also had Jennings Cumberland Ale. I'm not sure this was worth the trip out of town. But a reasonably good pub. blue_scrumpy - 14 Jan 2016 21:30 |
Definitely a full 10 marks from me! Excellent refurb, Excellent food, Excellent beer and Excellent staff!! Well worth a visit but you might have to reserve a table for food - this is the most frustrating bit about the place mind! stephendavid - 10 Jun 2012 23:13 |
Wonderful Pub - Chris and Christine are lovely - food and ale is excellent - fancy a good meal out then look no further... well done guys! sageraphics - 13 Jun 2011 16:31 |
Agree with the last post. A tasteful refurb (unlike many!) and 5 cask ales available - the Thwaites Original I tried was excellent. Also worthy of mention is the food, which was of excellent quality at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended! alexw - 27 Apr 2011 21:03 |
The Bull has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and has a new landlords (Chris & Christine) Chris is a real fanatic which is reflected in the excellent beers on offer. At last someone who can produce a great pint of Thwaites!!! Additionally there is always a good guest ale available. There is a nice selection of excellent proper home cooked food available 12 till 2 & 5 till 8. At last a really great local in the Lowercroft area. The only negative was the lighting in the long room, which was a bit harsh and had a cold feeling. Other than that it's well worth a visit. realalerulesok - 25 Apr 2011 12:33 |
