I just had to write a review about this pub as it clearly gets overlooked ,and was even by me until a few months ago when i went in there for a drink after an evening walk.I was so impressed when I walked in the door,it was so much better than the outside gave it credit for and to this day I keep returning, but not just for a drink, but for the amazing great food that is cooked on this premises. It has the Xfactor as far as pub food is concerned and I urge you to go and try it for yourself.I am off there tonight for a meal, cant wait to be wowed again! The atmosphere is so inviting too with candles lit all around and low lighting and a resident kitten ,called daisy who I happen to adore too.I often have her on my lap when eating my meal(my choice!) so please do go and give this pub a try.You wont be disappointed .Well done John you are a top class landlord! lilybear7 - 23 Oct 2012 18:50 |
We went here for lunch today, and noted the carpark was chockfull and the driver said "Sod that then". I said we should try to squeeze in, as a busy carpark is a good indicator of a good pub, and sure enough, a car left and we were able to fit in. Very good move, as it happened. We had Butcombe & Tim Taylors Landlord, both in very good condition, although maybe a little too cold, but probably so to encourage the lagerists to try the proper stuff. Saw a couple of old pals here, who I hadn't seen for some time, so that's a good sign. The food was better than most pubs I've tried (and I've tried quite a few). My pal (the driver), who is a chef with many years experience, pronounced the repast as one of the best pub meals he's ever eaten, so that just about sums it up. Suits me. Four of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The food was excellent and the service offered was so hospitable - we couldn't have asked for anything more. Would definitely recommend people to go to this pub. mossy123 - 7 Nov 2011 16:36 |
