| Recently visited this place.been on my "to do" list for some time.arrived early for lunch with my aged parents & the place instantly felt more like a restaurant than a pub.That said the staff were friendly & polite.shortish bar menu, so we all went for fish & chips which was excellent.The interior is a bit modern, i was expecting a more traditional pubby feel.With the emphasis firmly on the food I would return perhaps with Mrs tramadol as part of her rehabilitation into the wider community. | Visited between Christmas and New Year. Great location, food very generous and beer fine. Somehow lacked a bit of atmosphere and not helped by family with screaming toddler parked near the bar who was clearly annoying us and other customers. | We last visited in September 2008 and doubted we would return, but we did. New Year's Day with friends for a walk in the Great Park. Car park empty although road parking was impossible. A pre walk pint of Santa's Wobbler set us up nicely with something a little gentler afterwards with soup (not as described but OK) and chips. | Caters for Windsor Great Park Walkers. Nice location, but we found it expensive and not very child-friendly. Young children are certainly not welcome in the rear garden of the pub, where we initially sat. The menu states that they are "expected to remain seated and behave as young adults". Of course we didn't realise that this was the policy until after we sat down, and the waitress's manner was a little snooty as she re-directed us to the front garden, which is less formal. Unfortunately it is also next to a road, so with a 5 and nearly-3 year-old, we couldn't really relax, especially as there were bushes that they could easily squeeze through, that wouldn't enable us to follow. However, our 5 year old did love the tree in the garden, and managed to climb right to the top of it (despite being told not to). He will probably remember that for the rest of his life, and so for that reason alone I give the pub a 7. The food was pricey, but the portions were good, and it was good quality. There were lots of well-behaved dogs for the kids to pat. The toilets were not at all child friendly. The kids couldn't reach the taps or soap, and there were no nappy changing facilities, so I had to change the little one on the toilet floor. On a positive note, there was plenty of parking, and no nasty notices about clamping, so we felt relaxed in taking a short walk in the park before our meal. bessyjo2 - 16 Aug 2009 21:13 |
