I Took my girlfriend to the prince of waterloo at winford for a sunday evening meal, upon our arrival we entered the pub through the back entrance and ended up right in the dining area, we walked over too the bar to see what i can only imagine as one of the staff, she had her back to us and was typing a text on her mobile phone, after a couple of minutes waiting i decided to cough to make my presence known, she then turned around and announced that she was not working and called for someone else to serve us, we were served by a helpfull young lady who took our order and served our drinks, we then sat down at a table and awaited our food, i had ordered the 16oz rump steak with chips peas and onion rings, which i requested to be medium to well done as i dont like my steak to be still mooing when its on my plate and definately no blood and my partners meal was thick cut ham with egg and chips. When our food arrived i noticed that my steak was quite a thick cut and to my horror it was still mooing, also the grilled tomato looked as though it had been shown a match but was definately not as cooked as a grilled tomato should be, also my partners thick cut local ham looked like it was out of a packet, i dont normally complain about much but at almost 30 pounds for our meals and one drink each i feel that i should, needless to say i didnt see much point in complaining to the staff , so we ate what we could of our meals and promptly left the premises. We have passed the prince of waterloo on many occsions and have always said that one day we will try it out, well that day was today and i am sorry to say we will not be returning. 25/09/11

Visited on a Friday evening. The place was very cosy with real log fires in the bar. Warm welcome from the barstaff and waitress. We ate in the bar, taking in the great atmosphere, ate off the pick n mix menu, - 2 meals for 12.95 - great value for money and great food. I had the thick cut ham, double egg and chunky chips - Lovely! My partner had the butcombe ale pie to accompany his "perfect pint" of Butcombe.

Very enjoyable evening, very nice "locals". A definate must visit.

Good sized, attractive pub right in the centre of the village. Theres a couple of bar areas at the front, and a rear area more geared up for dining. Its got quite a country pub feel to it, with low ceilings, a part flagstone floor and a fire separating the two front bars.

Its a popular spot, and can get very busy out the front in sunny weather. On previous visits (a year or more ago) I have found some of the clientele to be rather uncouth. It seems to attract a lot of people from Hartcliffe. However, on this occasion it was fine, and all the staff, particularly the landlady, were very friendly. Hopefully those issues are now behind them, although as my visit was on a Monday lunchtime, it was inevitably attracting a different clientele to that which you might get on a Saturday afternoon. Nonetheless, it seemed to be doing a good trade which is encouraging at a time when you might expect a country pub to be rather quiet. Theres a beer garden both at the front for watching the world go by, and another round the side.

The food is typical pub grub, e.g.; ham, egg & chips, lasagne, curry, etc. We found the food quite decent, although nothing spectacular, and it was perhaps a tad on the expensive side. But then, this is a well healed area.

Beers on this occasion were Butcombe, Courage Best, Bass & Doom Bar with two of these being served straight from barrels racked up behind the bar. Ciders were Stowford Press and Thatchers Gold.
