Location stunning, staff attentive and friendly, good ales ( blonde bitch v good) well worth the drive Nippy - 16 Jun 2011 22:04 |
Nice enough place; good location and pleasant atmosphere, though when I was there it most seemed filled with builders and their wives. Two or three real ales on, of which the Copper Dragon 'Golden Pippin' was fine. We went there for food though, and the service was dreadful. Maybe we were just unlucky, but we were waiting for half an hour for starters that were wrong, and when it came to the main, my chilli had been forgotten, and when I finally got it to arrive is was adequate, but just Wetherspoons food really (which is ok for Wetherspoons, but not when you are paying these prices). They handled our complaints well though, and we didn't pay for any starters, or my forgotten chilli, so on the whole I'll forgive them. Pukon - 27 Mar 2011 23:12 |
Amazing location, you would have to know it was there, otherwise you might give up trying. Geared heavily towards the food, run almost along restaurant lines. Huge portions of very well-prepared food, but the veggie missus almost didn't eat due to the very limited choice(just one starter and two mains). They do need to widen it a bit further to match the standard offerings, which are extremely good. Excellently kept Black Sheep beers and Landlord on tap, but it is, of course, the range of whiskies that takes your breath away. One irritation with that, though - an advertised range of 500 whiskies needs a printed list to browse, which was not available on our vist. I got the impression that they weren't that concerned about doing a new list, but that may have just been the slightly off-hand reply to the question. You could only really select from what you could see at the bar, which was approximately 150...how do we know what we may have missed? Still a great time, though, and just a few tweaks needed to make it the ultimate experience. Gristy - 23 Apr 2007 18:13 |
This place is set in a fantastic location with stunning views across the valley. Its very much a food-orientated establishment though it does host (very enjoyable) beer festivals. The grub comes in shall we say generous portions and its decent home cooked fayre. The beer is a little pricey though there is a malt whiskey on offer at 3000 a shot (or something like that, cant remember exactly!).Theres also a fishing lodge there too which i think the public can use.Well worth a visit! The best ( and freshest) food I have eaten in Lancashire. Wonderful setting, open fires, real home cooked fresh food. Great all day opening, No smoking in all areas. Family run by jolly people who care what they serve to their visitors. Impressive wine list and hundreds of whiskies to choose from. You really should visit michele - 15 Mar 2005 15:10 |
