Called in for the first time last weekend for food and ale. Billboard outside promoted the food menu, so we made our selections and ventured in. We was greeted by an enthusiastic bar maid. Ales on offer from memory were Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Cumberland Ale and my choice which was Lancaster Blond, and a good pint it was. Food was of a good quality and decent value for money. Pub was relaxed with mix of day trippers and locals and staff very friendly and professional. Reading previous comments it appears changes have been made fairly recently to how it was run? anybody - 13 Aug 2013 19:19 |
Much improved now under the current management, although I've not eaten there. alexw - 7 Jan 2013 23:06 |
Called in today while out for a walk with our dog and was told in no uncertain terms and rather rudely i might add "no dogs allowed in here" so we left and wont bother going in again simples! So much for needing local custom! Saddleworth1 - 6 Aug 2012 13:12 |
Nearly 3 a pint for basically mediocre ale. I think this place just aims to rip off the tourists! I was very annoyed by the shambolic attempt on the British classic of fish and chips. The sheer audacity of the chef to put just 7 chips (Not joking) on a plate is quite ludicrous and at 7.50 makes it more outlandish! Dont let this place put you off from sampling some very good places whilst in Ramsbottom. My advice is to avoid at all costs! realalerules1983 - 12 Jul 2012 20:09 |
Not been in here for a long time - how a pub can decline! Several broken windows not repaired. One room looks more like a back street cafe with plastic tablecloths. The 'refurb' of the bar is horrendous, completely ruining the atmosphere of the pub. Six handpumps but none in use despite a Spitfire pump clip being on - the best they could muster was a bottle of Spitfire! Avoid - I certainly will be while the pub is under its current management. There are far better pubs nearby. alexw - 12 Dec 2011 10:13 |
