| A very good local pub with jolly good locals. As others have said, it's one to see for the interior decor. Close to High Brooms station for anyone to-ing or fro-ing from Tunbridge Wells. | This pub is an absolute gem and worth visiting just to see the decor. High Brooms isn't exactly on everyone's route (unless you live there) but the pub is only a short distance from the railway station and the only surviving pub in High Brooms. The Morland Original is a good beer well kept. The acoustic music night is entertaining. There are also well-attended ukulele nights. | Fantastic local pub, dog friendly (they remember the dogs name but never mine!), Moorlands on draught and just added Speckled Hen again as well as the usual lagers you woul expect to see etc. Free pool and free juke box on certain nights, regular pub events including the diddly diddly folk nights - this a rare and dying breed of community pub that will be sadly missed one day if not used enough by the local community - if you havent been you won't be dissappointed, divert your journey and pop in for a pint and marvel at the WWII decor! danieljmarsh - 29 Apr 2010 13:32 |
| Whilst this pub isn't what a lot of people would call a "conventionally good" pub it is certainly one of the last of a dying breed and deserves a visit. The ale's well-kept (though a limited choice) but the main point of a visit would have to be to marvel at the decor, particularly the ceiling furniture (inverted kayak as a lampshade is one example). It's a marvellously eccentric place and I can't imagine it'll be around for long once the current landlord decides to call it a day...see it while you can! "Diddley-Diddley" folk evening last Thursday of every month (Dec 2009 excepted) is also worth going along to for an "old fashioned folk club" flavour! Robnaylor - 27 Nov 2009 17:13 |
