We had a quick pint in here this week, Shropshire Gold on hand pull, seemed friendly but very quiet, I wish the owner well, this block had five pubs in the late 1800s! markh737 - 24 Nov 2012 20:30 |
Strange looking pub from the outside - it looks more like it should be serving tea and scones than beer. We only found it by accident. We had popped up to look at the exterior of the Rock & Fountain over the road, only to be scared off by the Carlin' and Worthington signs on it. We dived into the Britannia, for cover, once i realised there were no cakes in the window and i did in fact sell beer. Sort of a half traditional and half trendy refurbed kind of place with the usual taps, Youngs Bitter and, what turned this place into a nice find, a great Ansells MILD, though it was slightly too cold. All in all, will definately visit again, purely for the MILD, if that went, i guess, unless a few more real ales came on, so would I Archivist - 24 May 2009 10:57 |
Totally agree with the previous,to come to shrewsbury and drink youngs bitter is just dull, beer was served too cold and the pub smelt of bleach too, shame 6/10 fat_beer_badger - 29 Jan 2009 14:00 |
Now has two handpumps, however one was turned round on 6th Jan, mind you it was a freezing cold Tuesday with not many people around. The one beer on was Youngs Bitter. For some reason there seems to quite a bit of Youngs and Fullers around in Shrewsbury, why is that when there's plenty of good local beer around. Friendly locals pub with a roaring real fire. Close to the station and well worth a visit. ROBCamra - 7 Jan 2009 09:25 |
Recently refurbished (except for the Gents)and now has one tap for real ale - a pretty reasonable Black Sheep when I was in. Fairly comfortable and clean. Pool Table. Live music sometimes. Next to Royal Mail depot. Average pub, bu tbetter than some others in the area with 6+ ratings shropspy - 21 Feb 2006 17:21 |
