Excellent pub. Outstandingly friendly barmaids and landlord (despite him being a Pompey supporter I suppose someone has to be). Seriously, though, not a heavily football-ish pub, just good humour. We only had sandwiches, which were beautifully presented and very tasty. Beyond the usual Doombar etc was Bowman Wallops Wood. Very nice too. This is one of those rare things, a pub where you feel welcome the moment you cross the threshold. Long may it prosper. stevehar - 6 Jun 2011 22:31 |
I had lunch and a pint of Alton fff bitter there the other day. This pub has improved since I was last there. Very welcoming friendly atmosphere. It was full, for a midweek lunchtime, and deservedly so. The food and the beer were served well and nicely presented. jbsjazzer - 26 Feb 2010 14:25 |
The Drover's one of the more traditional pubs in the area and particularly good with it. A decent selection of beers including a good London Pride, and (currently) Doombar. The landlord, Barry, is a great bloke and makes the place particularly welcoming. Other added benefits are the big leather Chesterfields, the open log fire and the relaxed atmosphere. Can't really comment on the food or accomodation but I've heard from others that it is very good. If you're unlucky enough to have to come near Liss then I'd recommend drowning your sorrows here. Four members of our family had an evening meal on Easter Saturday. The service in the bar and restaurant was very good. Two of us stayed overnight in the new accomodation which was excellent. At the evening meal and breakfast the food was good freshly cooked. We shall definitely return to this excellent pub. mcgound - 17 Apr 2009 13:50 |
Sorry - one more thing. Don't misinterpret someone's earlier comment about being a Pompey fan. I'm sure that was meant as a light-hearted comment. As far as I could tell it's not a football obsessed pub. MisterWinst - 10 Sep 2007 19:21 |
