A decent honest pub with a building real ale scene and regular guests, some smaller brewers too which is always welcome. Bar food is good price for these parts and the car park is handy. Right on the Guided Bus route, brilliant theposh - 4 Jul 2012 13:23 |
2 roomed pub, with one room opening up to a conservatory. Some rather well oiled locals were populating one bar, whilst the quieter bar with conservatory had a more serene clientele. Beers were Greene King IPA, Adnams Broadside, Woodfordes Wherry & Lancaster Amber. Food seemed good value. I'm reliably informed that if you try the lady's toilets, the open cistern will give you an unexpected shower. Not the finest pub of our Cambridgeshire trip. blue_scrumpy - 21 Nov 2011 20:46 |
Our choice of pub prior to our game with Histon. Very friendly landlord and indeed locals - we were made to feel very welcome. Surprised it wasn't busier on a match day though. Concur with Maldenman on the beers available - presume he was there the same weekend as us. Also convenient for the bus services from/to Cambridge (every 10 mins daytime) for those stopping in the city. tonymc - 8 Dec 2009 09:27 |
The pub is now in the 2010 GBG. Four on, two in each bar so you need to go through to check what is on. Black Sheep Bitter and GK IPA in the lounge and Adnams Bitter and Camerons Fireside in the bar. I'm rather surprised to see no reviews since my previous visit two years ago as it seems a popular pub. Two screens in the bar for sport, and the pub is very convenient for Histon FC. Friendly village local, big screen for football etc, Marstons Pedigree and a halloween themed Wychwood Hobgoblin yesterday. Run by enthusiastic Stoke City supporters, with club paraphenalia around the pub....even the juke box sports the club badge. Enjoyed a good hour or so in here, not at all unwelcoming to strangers as similar located pubs can be. Maldenman - 4 Nov 2007 15:08 |
