Went for a pint with a mate early evening the other day to dilute the humdrum of a trip in the next-door massive Tesco earlier on. Pretty much echoing earlier comments, it's not a great place - but reasonable. It's clean and tidy, and there's a TV showing sports in the corner. The staff were OK but appeared a bit disinterested. The food's thematic stuff but I didn't try it - prices seemed OK. Two real ales on - a Courage Best and a guest. Both were perfectly reasonable and well-kept. We just had the one though, so we'll try again - maybe with food - and see what it's like then. JP71 - 11 Jan 2012 11:53 |
The food was cheap rubbish, but to be fair I enjoyed the beer (a Tetley variant) very much. mtaylor40 - 19 Nov 2010 23:10 |
visited pub in August 2010 and it was great, good food and service, RE-VISITED NOV 2010 AND THE PUB HAS GONE DOWN HILL FAST. Discusting food, rancid fat, greasy re-fried chips, steak so tough could not cut, chew or eat. Dried up carvery complete with crispy peas. cold jacket potatoes, frozen mash on plate. Salad served on hot plate consisting of just rocket leaves, 3 green tomatoes, and 3 chunks of chicken, 2 bits of bacon. Rude female staff, especially the manager and deputy manager. Dirty knifes folks and tables. mariamoo - 14 Nov 2010 16:37 |

OK OK It isn't the best olde worlde inn serving multiple Real Ales. BUT It's clean, tidy and has reasonable food. Nothing to write home about (no haute cusine) but service is good and, in my experience, prompt. Food is also reasonably good value (i.e. 2 meals for 10). Having lived and worked in the are for the best part of 6 years and having visited many nearby establishments where you seldom get change of 20 for a fairly basic meal the place is pretty reasonable in my experience. anonymous - 9 Oct 2006 17:09 |
