just found this site so sorry about delay! firstly, there is no change in attitude or pricing towards non drinkers - it has been the same price for a soda and lime since i started in ship in 1999 - unfortunately i was not working new years day for the first time and you have been overcharged by the then new assistant manager! for the record, its 1 for a pint of soda and lime, 1 for a can, and 1.60 for a pint of cola/lemonade. i can only apologise for the attitude of my staff and will show this review to those involved it still is the best pub in musselburgh and hopefully you will relent and give us a chance to redeem ourselves steviethelicensee - 15 Apr 2010 16:00 |
I have been drinking at this pub, infrequently, for a few years and have been recently disgusted by changes in attitude and pricing - directed at non alcholic drinkers. This was confirmed on New Years Day when I ordered a pint soda water and lime. (note: not bottled soda water just bubbly, gassy water with two dashes of lime) 1.60 ???????????? Two members of staff confirmed this price. This is the most that I have ever been charged at a pub for a soft drink (wait a minute, even they are cheaper than this?) I could have ordered a whisky for the same price or a half pint of lager - for a lot less. When pubs are supposed to be promoting sensible drinking - especially on New years Day - you would think that 'non drinkers' would be able to get a fair deal. The attitude of the staff was disapointing - I was made to feel that It was my problem and should not complain (even though this is almost 1 more than I am normally charged.) This used to be a half decent pub but I will not be retuning. spadger01 - 3 Jan 2010 11:45 |
