Had the impression of a locals' local on Sunday afternoon and didn't feel particularly welcome. 4 handpulls - Landlord, Proper Job, Hooky and Phipps's Midsummer Meadow. As a Midsummer Meadow virgin I should have tried that but I opted for the Hooky which was in good condition. paul_d102 - 3 Nov 2020 09:03 |
Finally got to recreate my own take on the Fairport Convention Nine album cover. Handily located for the festival and those like us cruising on the Oxford canal. My pint of London pride was fine and the food was reasonably priced. Friendly staff although a little unsure about, which food you could have, in which area. Bar meals seemed to be different to those in the restaurant bit. captaineric - 15 Sep 2017 11:30 |
A nice old village pub with live music every Saturday (we visited on a Thursday). A bit tatty round the edges but offers good basic food, well presented, with good Adnams Broadside. Currently beats 'The Red Lion' hands down. Flying_Nelly - 11 Sep 2011 19:03 |
Saturday night a live band in the Bar playing blue's ( which makes getting into the place a bit of a rat run then you finally pop up behind the bar briefly ) In the open plan restaurant try and sit in the middle of the room because the coming and going of people trying to find the bar/toilets/restaurant required most of our party to sit with our coats on because of the constant door openings. Served by more than capable lady with an accent from the u.s not oxfordshire that's for sure. The food was well cooked & presented if a little more Bistro than I really like on a Saturday night after a few pints of best ??? ( But hey time's they are a changing or atleast thats what the duo sang during the evening & atleast the Brasenose is not an Indian take away ) Twelveman - 7 Nov 2010 10:04 |
A pint and a sandwhich which was freshly made.I would not go for anything more adventurous. Feels a little lika a restaurant but It is a nice little village pub close to the canal which also lets in dogs, so all good by me. Jamie james67 - 30 Oct 2010 14:18 |
