Thank goodness the beer was ok as the welcome was pathetic. Surly uninterested miserable sod who livened up when the regular crew came in. Won't be racing back. MartynT - 26 Jan 2014 12:28 |
Visited on the strength of the Fallon's Ales mentioned in my (2011) Good Beer Guide but the beers were nowhere to be seen. Instead I found a pretty uninspiring choice of national brands. I can't even remember what I had. It was OK,but nothing exciting. The pub itself is nice and comfortable, with a mainly local clientelle. I am sure the radio station tehy had on was Welsh.... On the last visit it was nice pub, with some great real ales from the Fallon microbrewery which was run by the owners. The only criticism was that the live music (for which the place was famed) was pretty loud for those just there for a quiet pint. However the owners have just moved on in a dispute with the landlords over the rent so we will have to see what becomes of the place. benjie101 - 5 Oct 2010 19:39 |
A fairly comfortable pub that doubles as the brewery tap for the local Fallons brewery. Five real ales, all from Fallons, were available on our visit - Jax Best, Dark Prince, Angel Tears, Red Merking and Tattoers Arms. Thatchers Cheddar Valley cider was available from the cellar. The range of beers and ciders made this the best pub of the day on our Lancashire trip. My only criticism was that the welcome we received was not over-friendly. We appeared to get the usual 'you're not from around here' suspicious looks from the bar staff and the regulars crowded around the bar area, unlike the friendly greetings we had in most pubs. With room for improvement, I'll still give this pub a 7/10. blue_scrumpy - 5 May 2010 17:02 |
Have had reports of this pub and its fests for a couple of years, and just managed to visit for the first time for the May beer festival, and it is a cracking pub with friendly staff, and a good knowledge of their ales. There is now a micro brewery, Fallon Ales, and all the beers tried were good. It was great sitting in the outside seating area in the sun enjoying the ales. gillhalfpint - 3 Jul 2008 12:20 |
